Overview
Adelard provides the course in one and two day versions. The scope of the two is similar, but the two day version devotes more time to
the practical exercises. It can be held at the customer's site and is normally restricted to about 16 attendees.
This course provides an intensive introduction to safety analysis for equipment containing computer systems, and the development and assessment of the Safety Case. It is suitable for:
- technical staff who have been carrying out hazard analysis on an ad hoc basis
- staff new to the area
- procurement staff who have to evaluate contractors' Safety Cases
- financial staff who are involved in ALARP decisions
The course covers: relevant standards and guidelines, including IEC 61508 and Def Stan 00-56; a framework for safety analysis; construction and
evaluation of the Safety Case; safety analysis through the lifecycle; and failure probability analysis. The material is illustrated by a case
study on some computer-controlled equipment, and includes practical exercises for the students.
